Jeffrey Sutton becomes CFTC executive director

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has appointed Jeffrey Sutton as its executive director.
Replacing acting executive director Janaka Perera, Sutton joined the Commission earlier this month, having previously been chief financial officer at the Drug Enforcement Agency.
CFTC indicates that Sutton will direct key programmes with the Commission鈥檚 Division of Administration that are essential to its administration and management, which includes human capital, IT, financial management, administrative services and business operations, information and physical security and enterprise risk management.
Previously, Sutton has worked for eight years at the US Department of Justice, where he held a number of roles on the Justice Management Division鈥檚 budget team. He has also been a programme examiner at the US Office of Management and Budget and a research analyst at the Smithsonian Institute.
Commenting on his appointment, Jeffrey Sutton says: 鈥淭he CFTC is an amazing agency and I am excited about the opportunity to make administrative operations as effective and efficient as possible to help the agency to fulfil its important mission.鈥
